Extremist groups increasingly target ethnic Tajiks to carry out regional and global attacks. Recent events demonstrate that this is a potent global threat.
So we're supposed to be afraid of Tajiks now? We're supposed to give up our rights to free speech and dissent in order for us to be "protected" from them?
I've seen this type of analysis before, many times. I have far more reason to fear the oligarchy which controls my own government than I do some people surfing the net in Tajikistan.
Thanks for your comment. I am in no way saying people should fear Tajiks or that Americans should give up any rights whatsoever. There are actual terrorist groups with deadly track records taking advantage of a bad situation in these countries to recruit members and incite and carry out violence. Bad actors who seek to destroy open societies through violence have no place in them. In the US constitution, the first amendment does not apply to inciting violence (see Brandenberg v Ohio). No country’s constitution extends full free speech rights to seditionists or those who incite violence.
