Near Miss Between Russian and US Aircraft
Russian “Unprofessional Behavior” Over Syria
On July 6th, Russian aircraft dropped flares on and flew dangerously close to a US MQ-9 Reaper drone operating over Syria. Lt Gen Grynkewich, AFCENT Commander said the drone was carrying out a counter-ISIS mission when the event took place. This is the second interaction between Russian and US aircraft over Syria in a 24 hour period with a similar event taking place on July 5th which forced US pilots to perform evasive maneuvers.

War Mapper on Twitter put together some great graphics showing how territory has changed hands in Ukraine since the start of the war. They note that Ukraine liberated roughly 200km2 since in June meaning that Russia now occupies 17.51% of the country, down 0.04% since May.
Israeli Forces Complete West Bank Operation
Israeli Defense Forces withdrew from Jenin after a 48 hour operation designed to root out fighters operating out of the camp and attacking targets inside of Israel. The operation is estimated to have killed at least 12 and wounded upwards of 100 Palestinians with one death reported of an Israeli soldier. Of note, Israeli sources say all killed and wounded were militants whereas others say many of the wounded were civilians.
Israel called the operation a success having dealt a blow to the Jenin Battalion, a part of the larger Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization. Israel says they destroyed weapons, IED making factories and headquarters nodes across the camp. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the operation saying that multiple civilians were injured, thousands forced to flee their homes with schools and hospitals damaged.
More than 150 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank so far this year, with 2023 on track to be the deadliest year in the West Bank since the UN began recording casualties there in 2005.
