Are we seeing much impact of USAID's effective shuttering in terms of global security yet? It feels like a horrendous and myopic own-goal by the US.

I think it's still early to see the full impact of the cuts, but reports indicate Mali's struggling healthcare sector is at a high risk. Specifically, a foreign funded field hospital in the country's center will face severe budgetary constraints. The hospital focuses on providing free medications to pregnant mothers and children fleeing violence from militant groups like JNIM. Mali currently receives little foreign aid as it is due to its 2021 coup and subsequent end to its UN mission banishment from ECOWAS.
