New Poll: Less Than Half Of Americans Support Additional Funding For Ukraine
In a recent poll, 55% of respondents said that Congress should not authorize additional funding for Ukraine while 45% said they should. This is the first poll I’ve seen that shows overall support for Ukraine’s war effort dipping below the 50% mark.
The poll was conducted for CNN by SSRS, an independent research company that worked with a sample size of 1,279 respondents who answered questions during the month of July, 2023.
In the findings, 48% of respondents said that the US should do more to stop Russian military actions in Ukraine while 51% said we had done enough. This same question was asked at the start of the invasion at which point 62% said more, 38% said not enough.
Overall, respondents felt the risk of Russian attacks elsewhere, a broader war in Europe and overall threat to US national security have decreased since the start of the invasion.

Ukraine Attacks Russian Warship
A waterborne UAV was used by Ukraine on August 3rd to strike the Russian ship Olenegorsky Gornyak, a naval landing ship operating in the Black Sea. Upon news of the attack, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated, “in the course of repelling the attack, the unmanned boats were detected and destroyed.” Shortly thereafter, video was released showing the POV of the drone and eventually the Russian ship listing as it was moved back to port.
