US Forces Down Enemy Drones & Missiles
CENTCOM announced that US forces had defended against three drones in northern and western Iraq destroying two and damaging a third. The drones were not attributed to any specific group or country but are likely to have been launched by Iranian backed militias in the region. It’s not clear the size or capabilities of the drones but US forces in the region are likely to come under increased threat from these groups should Iran choose to escalate the ongoing war in Israel.
Then on October 19th news was released that the USS Carney intercepted three land attack cruise missiles launched by Iranian backed Houthi forces in Yemen. US officials says they don’t believe the missiles were aimed at the US warship but some have speculated they may have been bound for Israel.

Threat of Broader War Looms as Israel Prepares Ground Invasion
It’s been a week and a half since Hamas kicked off their brutal attack into Israel where 1,300 citizens were killed most of whom were civilians. Israel quickly took the fight to Hamas kicking off a robust air campaign targeting Hamas leadership and facilities all across Gaza. Most expect that a ground invasion of Gaza is set to occur before long although that has yet to materialize.
Hamas has stated that more than 3,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli bombardments and recently accused Israel of bombing a hospital which they say killed 500 people. The IDF has put out numerous releases contesting this claim but the initial story, albeit taken at the word of Hamas, spread all across the internet quickly. After additional information has come out, it appears likely that the source of the strike was a faulty Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket. For a the complete IDF investigation see link below.
In response to attacks emanating from Syria and Lebanon, Israel has struck into both countries although the war technically has not escalated to include groups or governments from either. The US appears mostly concerned right now about an escalation with Hezbollah to the north, recently stating that military action could be taken if the Hamas ally chooses to attack Israel.
